Rediscovering my own inperfections

During the last several years I've been reminded of things I had long overlooked and even in some cases forgotten. I have have 3 kids hence the title of this blog. My oldest did not speak til she was nearly 4 and as time has passed has been diagnosed (per the school, and suspicions of Dr's) of being ADD though I feel she is also dyslexic. My middle was presumed ADD last year in first grade and is now showing some tendancies of dyslexia. Thankfully my youngest his only issue is speech and is an all around intelligent child. But discovering their flaws in learning has lead me to remember my stuggles as a child. And with those struggles I am trying to give the girls guidance to cope w/o the aid of meds. Some of the things they do I remember doing. I had tried to call the district in which I grew up in and was told they don't keep the records beyond transcripts once you graduate. My Mother before she had passed had only said "they told me you needed the help" but never truly what my learning issues were. It has been interesting trying to remember what I did and how I learned to cope. I recall being pulled out for extra help in the same areas as the girls but not labeled LD as they are today. It hurts to know they struggle the way I did and in some instances more than I ever did in the classroom. Overtime I had forgotten my academic woes and have rediscovered them within my own children. I am hoping we can find our path thru intervention at school, reading tutors, and time.
